About Dismas
At Dismas, national leadership is an important mission
Dismas — founded in 1964 and headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky — operates 39 state and federal residential re-entry centers and support offices in 15 states. We serve as the primary re-entry point for over 9,000 men and women returning to society from state and federal prisons each year.
Dismas operates as Diersen Charities in New Mexico and Tennessee.
Crime is a community-wide problem which takes experienced team members, families, faith-based institutions, employers, volunteers, and other service organizations to partner together to enhance successful re-integration of our clients. Our centers connect clients with thousands of job opportunities every year. Those who would otherwise be confined to prison reside in our centers, where they work, provide valuable community service, and pay taxes, child support, fines, or other restitution.
Dismas Charities provides quality, cost-effective, community-based supervision and support services while focusing on Healing the Human Spirit. We believe all individuals are entitled to be treated with respect and compassion.
Our success — past and future — lies in our spirit, our pioneering use of technology, our continuous development of new ways to deliver services and our high-performance team member culture. Whether we are currently in your community, or planning to be there in the future, you will see the difference Dismas makes.
